Social Cultural coordinates the ministry of hospitality by bringing together the parish community to break bread in a friendly and celebratory gathering through the many Parish social events.
The all-voluntary “team” serves the parish with unwavering commitment and share their God-given talents as party planners, decorators, chefs, sous chefs, etc. They have fun in the process of setting up and decorating the cafeteria, preparing and cooking over a hot stove in the kitchen or at an outdoor grill, doing plated or buffet food service with a smile, and grocery shopping.
Social Cultural meets on the first Tuesday of each month. The annual events they cater to follows:
Event | Month of event | Description |
---|---|---|
Parish Feast Day Dinner | January | Celebrates the Epiphany of the Lord feast day on the first or second Saturday of January. |
St. Patrick’s Day Dinner | March | Honors the parishioners of Irish descent and the Presentation Sisters, and is held on the third Saturday of March. New England boiled dinners of corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes are served. Each year the Murphy Irish dancers have entertained us with their quick stepping. |
Pastor’s Birthday Party | July | In July the parish celebrates our pastor’s birthday and his continued service to our parish. A “feast” of roast pig and other Filipino delicacies, complemented by parishioners’ homemade delectables are served. Our pastor’s melodic singing is a welcomed entertainment. A thanksgiving mass precedes the party. |
Parish Barbecue | September | Celebrated the second Saturday of September, its purpose is to generate seed money for the International Night Dinner held in November. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs are served for Eat In or Take Out. |
International Night | November | Held the first or second Saturday of November, the dinner celebrates our parish’s diverseness with ethnic cuisine and traditional music and folk dances (African American, Chinese, Filipino, Hispanic, Irish, and Italian). |
Other Events | TBD | In addition to the above, other special receptions may include farewell/welcome parties, Advent or Lent fellowships, etc. |
