Lectors publicly proclaim the Word of God at the daily and Sunday Celebration of the Eucharist and other liturgical services. After a training session with the Lector coordinator, the service of Lector is scheduled monthly according to the individual's ability.
Those selected will receive careful preparation, as it is your responsibility to bring this power of the word of God and love of scripture to others. Through various resources and in-housetraining and as well as Archdiocese of San Francisco training, you are receiving the careful preparation that will allow you to lead others to the love of scripture.
Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers assist with the distribution of Holy Communion during the weekday and Sunday Masses. After training, the service of an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister is scheduled monthly according to the individual's ability.
This service will require you to grow – in confidence, dexterity, agility, and reverence in the way you handle chalices, purificators, ciboria, and pyxes and you will be trained to handle species appropriately and respectfully. Whether you are a beginner or a long-serving extraordinary minister, there should always be great reverence for the Eucharistic species.
