Archbishops
Annual Appeal:
We are
extremely happy to report that Epiphany
has finished paying off its 2008
assigned Archbishops Annual Appeal
of $84,800.00. This week marks the
beginning of the Archbishops Annual
Appeal 2009 (AAA). Our parish assessment
is $87,800.00. All dollars donated in
excess of this assessment will be returned
to the parish to meet our needs. This
week, all parishioners will receive a
letter from Fr. Eugene Tungol and a
brochure that explains the programs and
services funded by the Annual Appeal.
Through the Appeal we join with the
Archbishop in ministering to youth,
seniors, families, the sick and
disadvantaged. We help train priests and
deacons and we care for our retired
priests. The Annual Appeal also helps the
Archbishop provide seminary tuition
assistance, hospital chaplains and
Archdiocesan services and ministries that
benefit every parish and mission.
Whoever does the will of God, is
my brother, sister and mother...

Reflections
GOSPEL:
Mark 1:21-28
In this reading Jesus
teaches and acts with authority. In this
first miracle recorded by Mark, Jesus
shows his power over the forces of evil.
Even the evil spirit gives witness to
Jesus, recognizing him as the Holy
One of God and submitting to his
commands.
We should learn to trust in Jesus
and his loving care for us. We should
listen each day for his quiet voice in our
hearts, urging us to trust him and to do
what he asks.
1.) What are our attitudes toward
authority in our lives?
2.) Are our attitudes toward Jesus
the same as or different from our
attitudes toward other
authorities?
3.) Does Jesus authorize
our thoughts and actions? How or
when?
