Announcements

Decoration of the Church

We need volunteers to help with the cleaning of the church and the sanctuary on Saturday, Dec. 22nd from 9:00am to 1:00pm and help with decorating the church and Christmas tree on Monday, Dec. 24th from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

The Giving Tree

On Sunday, December 2nd, we began the season of Advent, a time of preparation for Christmas. During this season, parishioners are invited to share with the less fortunate by taking an ornament from the “Giving Tree,” which is located near the sanctuary of the church. We ask that you bring a new and freshly wrapped gift for the person (gender and age) listed on the ornament. Wrapped gifts can be dropped off at the parish office Mondays-Fridays 9am-8pm and on weekends from 9am-3pm. We ask that all gifts be brought before Dec. 16th. For more information please call the parish office (415) 333-7630.

Christmas Plants

The Liturgy Committee invites you to donate a Poinsettia plant for the decoration of the sanctuary during the Christmas Season. Please bring plants to the parish office beginning December 16, during office hours. We ask that all plants be brought in no later than December 23rd, so that they can be used for decoration. If you should have any questions, please call the parish office at (415) 333-7630.

Reflections GOSPEL: Matthew 3: 1-12

John the Baptist was one of those preachers who did not mind stepping on people’s toes, even those of the rich and powerful. His mission was to get people to repent and be baptized before the Messiah arrived. John warns the religious leaders of his time that they mustproduce good fruit as proof of their conversion. John wanted everyone to be ready for the Messiah: no excuses!

1.) How are you getting ready for the Messiah? Are your actions of justice, peace, and love speaking loud and clear as you prepare for Christmas? Are you really a follower of Christ or are you just jumping on the Advent-Christmas bandwagon?

2.) Take a few quiet moments and ask Saint John the Baptist to suggest something just, peaceful, and loving that you could do to prepare to celebrate Christmas as a true follower of Christ. Give some evidence that you mean to be ready! (You may want to join with a partner to do something special. The more the merrier!)
