For Your Information

Guidelines for Receiving Holy Communion at Home

If anyone who is not able to come to a weekend Mass and would want to receive communion phone the parish office and request a priest or a Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound to bring them Holy Communion. This applies, also to someone who is recuperating from surgery or other illness. It is important that this request comes from the patient, or someone who has been asked to act for the patient. Unless the office is notified there is no way to know who is ill, in the hospital, moved to convalescent residence etc... Since the Federal Privacy Law was enacted, this information is not be made available to members of the Parish Staff.

Reflections
Today’s Reflection  Lk 10:1-12,17-20 or Lk 10:1-9

If Jesus sounds like he means business in this reading, he does! What matters most to him in the whole world is to make people understand that the reign of God is at hand. This is why he sends his disciples out in every direction. The harvest (people who have not heard the good news of the gospel) is ready right now. Jesus instructs the disciples to go quickly and travel light. They are to spread his peace, cure the sick, and proclaim the reign of God.

1. How would you do it?

2. What would you do first?

3. How are we carrying out Jesus’ message of love and peace and justice and hope in our world today?

Next Week's Reflection Lk 10:25-37

Jesus was a great storyteller. We can imagine how fascinating his voice and manner must have been when he told the parable of the Good Samaritan to the lawyer who wanted to be saved. And how surprised the lawyer must have been when he heard the answer to the question “Who is my neighbor?” My neighbor is not just the person next door or a member of my parish or my racial group. My neighbor is anyone in need?even if he or she seems to be an enemy. Jesus’ parable reveals the true meaning of love of neighbor. It is going out of our way to do everything for someone that we would want done for us.

1. What is Jesus’ message in this parable?

2. If you truly understand Jesus’ message, how could you carry it out in your own school, neighborhood, or parish?
